Kaduna Killings: House Of Reps Reject Representatives Of Service Chiefs

The House of Representatives leadership, led by Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Ahmed Wase, declined to meet with representatives of the service chiefs on Wednesday.

According to nigerian Tribune, the House leadership asked that the service chiefs attend in person to explain the events surrounding the attacks on an Abuja- Kaduna rail service and the suspected bandit invasion of Kaduna Airport.

The House leadership called the service chiefs and ministers of key ministries and agencies, as well as the chairmen of the committees on aviation, security and intelligence, police affairs, army, airforce, defense, and land transport, to appear before it on Tuesday.

The Ministers of Aviation and Transport, the National Security Adviser, the Chiefs of Defence and Army Staffs, the Director- General of the Department of State Service, and the Inspector General of Police were among those invited by the House.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority’ s Director- General, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency’ s Managing Director, and the Nigerian Railway Corporation’ s Managing Director were among the others.

The purpose of the conference was for ministers and service leaders to explain to the legislature the circumstances surrounding the attacks on an Abuja- Kaduna train and the suspected bandit invasion of Kaduna airport.

All of the ministers and service chiefs, on the other hand, were unable to attend before the house on Wednesday due to prior commitments.

The special committee’ s chair, the Deputy Speaker, expressed displeasure that the service chiefs were unable to attend before the committee.

He stated that the House cannot proceed with the meeting because the accounting officers must be present.

” We appreciate Mr. President’ s desire to address this issue, but we also believe that their presence here for a few minutes will make little difference in terms of the situation. ”

” As a parliament, we have always worked with the President to secure the safety of our people, and as a parliament, we are concerned; we need to see a similar outcome. ”

” As our Armed Forces, we appreciate and honor you, ” he continued, ” but let us get together as people concerned and as Nigerians and put our heads together to find a solution to these difficulties. “
