Arsenal Fans Fumes Against Club’s Inability To Sign Top Players.
Arsenal was the highest spenders in the transfer window this summer splashing over £130m but this was not enough to impress Arsenal fans who are underwhelmed by the club’s recent performances.
The club confirmed the last signing of the summer on deadline day in the arrival of Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna in a deal worth £19.5m but this was not enough to improve the feeling around the club.
The worst fears have been realized as the Gunners will have to play with the current squad, the same side that lost 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Furthermore, one of the fears about Arsenal is the youthful and inexperienced newcomers added with disappointment which has been accentuated by the previous EPL defeats. Ben White (23), Martin Odegaard (22), Aaron Ramsdale (23), Sambi Lokonga (21), Nuno Tavares (21), and Takehiro Tomiyasu (22).
The Gunners lost three of their opening three EPL games without scoring a goal but conceded nine for the first time since 1953, and are currently 20th in the League table which brings about another fear of relegation for the first time in the club’s history.
Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell believes Mikel Arteta’s job is at risk with the current squad unless they put an end to the poor performance, while fans have demanded that Edu should be shown the exit door having splashed out a lot of money recently with no positive results to show for it.
The angry fans had booed Edu from the stands during Arsenal’s home match against Chelsea and approached Arteta in his car as he was about leaving the Emirates after the game, asking him to leave the club. More of such embarrassing scenes may persist if Arteta and his boys do not come back to winning ways.
The fans are also disappointed in the failure to lure more central-midfielders to the Emirates as expected before the deadline, with the likes of Houssem Aouar and Renato Sanches both, mooted as potential targets. The fans’ grievances extended to the renewal of Granit Xhaka’s contract, the swiss captain got his another red card of his Arsenal career last weekend against Manchester City which resulted in a 5-0 loss.
